Overnight Camp

July 8-12, 2007

Overnight camp for players of all levels

Camp Details

Training:  This camp is intended for girls entering grades 9 through graduated seniors.  The focus will be on skill development and game play.  There will be two primarily skill oriented sessions each day, with the evenings generally being set aside for games and/or tournament competition.

Staff:  A staffer-to-camper ratio of approximately 1:6 will be targeted. The camp staff will be led by Brown University head coach Diane Short.  Coach Short has led Brown Volleyball for thirteen seasons.  During that time she's won three Ivy League championships and taken teams to two NCAA championship tournaments.  She has coached three Ivy League Players of the Year, two Rookies of the Year, and numerous All-Ivy selections.  As a player, Coach Short was an all-conference middle blocker.  She will be joined by members of the Brown staff and other high quality collegiate and/or club coaches.  It is also anticipated that current members of the Brown volleyball team will be on staff.

The Facility:  The camp will take place in the Pizzitola Athletic Center on the Brown University campus.  The gym has a high quality wood floor and ample space around the courts.  It is the competition site for Brown Volleyball.

Check-In/Check-Out:  Check-in will take place 12:00-2:00PM on July 8th.  Camp ends at 2:00PM on July 12th.

Medical:  There will be a trainer on-staff throughout the camp, and ice will be readily available.  The trainer will happily tape ankles and whatnot, but those requiring regular taping should bring supplies with them.  He or she may only have a supply on-hand sufficient to deal with immediate needs.

Transportation:  The Brown University campus is easily accessible.  Camp staff will gladly pick up campers from the airport (Providence), train station, or bus depot and return them for departure at the end of camp.

Food & Lodging:  All campers will stay in a dormitory on the Brown University campus and eat in one of the dining halls.  All meals and housing are included in the camp tuition.  The campers may also take advantage of  a number of eateries within easy walking distance.

Other Activities:  There are a number of supervised activities, such as shopping and movies, that will be available to campers during their off time.  Those interested in learning more about Brown University and/or explore the campus will have opportunities to do so.  There are also numerous other colleges within easy reach.  Campers under the age of 18 are not allowed to leave the camp on their own during it's duration, but visits to those campuses could very easily be scheduled as part of the camper's complete trip.

All camp attendees will receive a t-shirt to go along with quality coaching, lots of skill training and  game play, and an overall good time!

Registration

Space in the Overnight Camp is limited.  Registration will be done on a first-come, first-served basis based on when payment is received.  The tuition for the Overnight Camp is $495 for overnight campers, $395 for commuters.  A cancellation fee of $50 will be charged to anyone who withdraws up to May 31st.  After that it rises to $200.
